Sea to Sierra with experienced horsemen Horacio and Ariel, two cousins from Aguacate, are pleased to introduce our new horseback riding tour – the
Vaquero Cantina Horseback Tour. Our
Bikes, Beers and Botanas Mountain Bike Tour that goes to 4 botanaros in Jaluco and Barra de Navidad is very popular but we still get people who don’t want to do the pedaling on bike so we came up with the
Vaquero Cantina Horseback Tour for those folks, or for those who like a nice scenic horseback ride that's well off the beaten path with some food and drink along the way.

Starting at the coral in Aguacate we ride through the plantations, orchards, farms and wilderness behind Aguacate and Jaluco and through the little farming and ranching towns of Jaluco and Aguacate. Horacio is completely fluent in English and will answer any questions you may have on the ride.
On the horseback tour we visit the family botanaro La Guera in Jaluco where we stop for some beers and botanas and then we ride on to El Bar de Gus in Aguacate where we have some more beer and lots of botanas. We limit the ride to two botanaros so we don't have to cross the highway with the horses. The ride is completely along trails and low traffic dirt roads.
Total riding time is about 3.5 hours – Ariel, Horacio and I rode it yesterday. The horses are well taken care of, very well trained and extremely responsive and we even adjust the stirrups to make your ride comfortable. The tour is suitable for everyone because we leave Gus's before the first dancers come on at 5 pm. And the answer is yes “pardner” – if anyone wants to end the tour at Gus's and watch the show we won't head you off at the pass, we'll just get your horse back to the ranch wthout you and you can head home from Gus' when you're ready.
Riding on what will some day be a heavy truck bypass but now is a rough trail.

Riding through a narrow trail, Ariel weilds a mean machete on the brush.

We will be introducing another new horseback riding tour in the next couple of weeks that runs from Aguacate, along Arroyo Seco under the highway around the back of Laguna Navidad, then over to Playa de Cocos and on to Colimilla. The next day the tour will run back in the reverse direction from Colimilla to Aguacate.
If anyone is interested in more information about either horseback riding tour drop by our store at Veracruz 204 in Barra de Navidad, we are right across from the newly remodeled Jardin (town square).
