Looks good...do they have a buy one get one free night? LOL
Hmmm....I dunno, $11 for a loaded pizza? I think that price is higher than it is here in Texas.

We ate pizza Sunday night at Emily's (sp?), which is just off the carratera, and if you orer extra pepporni with extra cheese and lots of tomato sauce it is quite good and costs about $110 pesos. They did not have change for the $500 peso bill which was all I had so they told me to come back another day and pay them. I went back and paid them last night and they were surprised that I came back so quick.

I will have to try this new place and see how good it is.

Every day lunch special is 'Buy one get one free'!
I guess prices here are not as bad as I thought. :)

THE PIZZA IS GREAT !!! I have used their delivery twice. Once with the American Special [ pepperoni and real fresh, thick sliced mushrooms] which was super. The next time for a double cheese. I would ask for extra sauce cooked on the double cheese next time, but just because its how I like it. The service is great; if you only speak English, give your telephone number and an English speaking individual calls you back - yes, and quickly. Delivery was quick in both cases and the food hot. Definely worth a tip to the business.

Tonight I tried Pizza Hot pizza. I asked for triple tomato sauce on a pepperoni lovers pizza. I brought it home and tried it. I guess triple no tomato sauce is still no tomato sauce (3X0=0). I gave the thing to my gardener who was here and he was happy about it. IMHO the pizza was TERRIBLE. He took it home to the kids and wife. He said they use ketchup on it for the sauce. I see the ketchup bottles on tables in these places and I have figured out why it is there. Mexicans put it on the pizzas as the restaurants don't. I have no idea why not.

The owner of Pizza Hot speaks very good English, which he learned in the states, and I will try again as there was enough cheese and pepperoni and maybe he will put some tomato sauce on it for me.

If not I am going to stay with Emily's as they will make what I want and when Kimberly comes back I will try Palapa Joe's in La Manzanilla again as their triple tomato sauce is almost non existent also. Maybe she can get some tomato sauce on it for me.

Oh, for some NYC pizza right now. I know of just the place on 2nd Street. I love the dripping grease. You curl it up some so all the grease does not drip off. Hmmmmmmmm Good.

Sorry Barb, I could not agree with you on this one.

Shoe,

Palapa Joe's should be reopened for business either the first or second week of October. If you are concerned about getting extra-extra sauce please just make sure the wait person understands.

My husband, Willy is usually the bartender during the day so you can
always just introduce yourself and make your request known to him. We will try to meet you expectations.

If I'm around (I will be there after October 7) I'll come down and make the pizza myself. Since I taught everyone how to do this in the first place. Maybe something has gotten lost in the translation . We aim to please.

Regards,

Kimberly

Kimberly, I have tried to get the wait person to understand that I want tomato sauce on the pizza. When they bring the ketchup bottle/container I get really concerned. My Mexican girlfriend also tells them in Spanish to put lots of tomato sauce on the pizza but it doesn't happen. I have only tried three times at your place so far and will wait until you all are back to try again there. What I like about Palapa Joe's is a great place to sit and drink a beer or two along with my pizza.

Now Emily's in Melaque finally has me figured out and I get what I want. They think i am nuts as they give me ketchup too, but I guess they just do not really understand.

How come ketchup is served with a pizza? The restaurant people must understand that tomato sauce goes on the pizza and I guess they have convinced the people of Mexico that the tomato sauce should come from a ketchup bottle or so it seems. Guess it is less work for the kitchen.

Can't really answer the ketchup on pizza question, shoe...maybe some people like the taste, or maybe they equate it with being American-style salsa.

When we stayed for five months in Melaque, I hosted several pizza parties for our friends.

Though it was a way for people to taste pizza the way, we like it and maybe help make the change-over from ketchup to tomato sauce, which is also readily available in small cans everywhere.

brought down my Italian spices and pizza trays...as I wanted to make sure that these bases were covered.

Well, since there were 20 guests, we all sat around the kitchen, dicing, chopping and grating until we had enough ingredients for 4 large pizzas.

While the the oven, heated up, the adults drank lots of beer and the kids drank pop or juice and ran around the casita. Muy mexicana, no?

I have to go with Shoe on Emily's. The whole family was exhausted after moving to our new house and I didn't want to take a chance of being disappointed. Bought two family sized with extra cheese and extra sauce and instead of being the normal $90 ... it was $125 each. Actually without extras might be good. They do make a good sauce.

Thanks Shoe
