It is not good for the Canadian dollar being at par.

It is best for Canadian trade when the $ cad is down at .75-.80 against the $ us.

As you will see if you check, that Canada now has a deficit, the first time in many years.

I don't regularly follow the Canadian dollar ... BUT ... we are going to be up on Vancouver Island for a few days this month. I'll check and see how the C$ compares with the US$.

MEXICO CITY, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks fell sharply on Monday, as investors worried about the impact of a U.S. housing slump on global banks and after inflation data showed mounting price pressures in the United States.

The benchmark IPC stock index .MXX fell 1.21 percent to 26,634 points, with losses at copper miner Grupo Mexico dragging hardest on the index as prices for the metal fell on concerns a slowing global economy would crimp demand.

The peso <MXN=> MEX01 firmed nearly 0.2 percent to 9.9435 per dollar, trading at its strongest level since late 2002 amid expectations the central bank could further hike interest rates to fight a spike in inflation.
