finally the walmart "empire" is here at last in mzo. and they made a HUGE deal about it in its grand openning day. to me it was like tuesday. i was more surprised seeing the store actually being made in a place like mzo, no offense.

the store looks similar to the 'supercenter' stores found in the states (and i suppose the same in canada), only alot smaller in size.

the store does offer their "always low price" deals on their products, however it never felt that the price was low enough, it lacked alot of promotions, and overall, you still have to end up at la comercial and especially the soriana to get it cheaper there. they also lack alot of products like their frozen "great value" pizzas (that's annouced on their walmart paper that you receive when the lady hand it to you when you first get inside the store), and deli style ham that can be found at the soriana at times.

they also lacked rootbeer, and probably a whole other brand of products. this probably has a lot to do with the limitation of how much products you can stack up in this VERY small `supercenter`store. at times, it felt like the soriana store was a lot bigger, actually!

alot of people here say that you don't have to shop in colima and guadalajara anymore to get what you want since now mzo has a walmart. i agree to that to a certain point. yes, this is probably one of the best stores mzo has up to date (until the next time they bring in another brand name supermarket), and it DOES offer alot of things you can't find nowhere else in town, especially with the IMPORTED products thay have, BUT even Walmart failed to bring a decent collection of music cd's. There are STILL NO store in mzo decent enough to sell most of the greatest cd's to date. I still have to shop at guadalajara or in the states to get the music cd i want.

their 'take out' pre heated food selection looks pretty good with chicken mole and other mexican dishes. it's def alot heathier than the crap they serve in the american walmart. and yes! there coffe shop is NOT A f-king STARBUCK! Woooo YEAH!!!!

Thanks for the info. I don't plan on going there until next week for my look around. I have never felt the need to go to Colima or Guadalajara just to shop. I personally have found what I needed here in Manzanillo. If I can't find it then I obviously don't need it!

I have a suggestion for your music problem. Buy an iPod. I have a 30gb model that currently has all 120 of my cds on it and it is only 2/3 full. You can download entire albums or individual songs from the itunes store. Avoids the shopping problem.

Something to think about.

I drove by yesterday and felt the same way as Stan - I'll wait until things calm down. Lots of people around I imagine just to look. Noticed lots of buses with Walmart advertising paint jobs.

Would be nice if they had a few more price checking machines than the other stores. Think the others only have 2-3 each
