I'd never heard of this ... but had heard that your passport could not expire within so many months of applying for the FM3.

A friend just got his first in Manzanillo and it expires close to when his passport does in October

Scott,

I read this with great interest as we applied on the 17th of April for FM-2s and my wife's passport expired in September. We were previously on FM-3s. Today we picked up our FM-2s and they are for a full year, hers does not expire with the passport.

I have no explanation for the difference.
