Hola,

My girlfriend (who is Mexican) and I are planning to move to Manzanillo in the spring of 09.
I currently live in British Columbia Canada.

Does anyone have any tips and suggestions as to the best way for me to come to Manzanillo.....tourist or FM3 visa?

We plan on starting a small business (I have read the comments about gringos coming and being in RE....trust me I am not doing RE stuff.......) I want to do something that is going to help the local people and the environment of the area improve.

I look forwards to any and all feed back I can get.

Mike

Yes we do like to criticize gringos who come down needing money and sell Real Estate .... anything to live in paradise I guess. The kind of business you start will depend on your skills and those of your girlfriend.

The standard way to move to Mexico is on a tourist visa and then convert to the type of FM3 that you need to live here longer. Any FM3 requires proof of income, money in the bank or a way to make a living. The business side is easy for her if she is Mexican but if you are not married you would have to show personal income ... or somehow be connected to her business.

Probably not difficult to work out but you would need to network once here .... and hopefully have a little money in the bank to tide you over six months or so

Thank you for your reply.

I thought coming on the tourist visa is the best way.
We plan on buying a home once we arrive. So I have read that this makes it alittle easier to obtain an FM3, but whatever I have to do to do it properly I will. I have been saving for a long time so I should be okay to support us for 6 months until I can work.
I do plan on joing as many groups as I can to network once there or even sooner if I can.

My girlfriend actually works in RE herself (has for a number of years in another state) she would like to try and continue once we move but if unable that is okay.

She is coming to BC for Christmas and we are talking about possibly getting married while she is here...........trying to find out as much info as possible about everything.

I appreciate your time and help and I am sure I will be back on the site with many more ???????
