Palapa Joe's recently reopened in La Manzanilla, serving lunch and dinner. It's under new management with a great menu to which new appetite-pleasers are being added regularly. The Jane Burger is back, the pepperoni pizza is to die for, and everything is delicious.

Has the pizza got tomato sauce on it? If so, I will make the trip to check it out. Where is it, as I do not know many places or names in La Manzanilla?

Yes, tomato sauce! This pizza is definitely worth the trip to La Manz, always a wonderful place to visit.

To get to Palapa Joe's: Take the road into town off Hwy 200, turn left at the pool hall onto our main street, two blocks down on the left, yellow building, big wooden doors usually open when the restaurant is, closed Mondays. Depending on when you come up, you may have a slight detour while they're digging up the main street to lay sewer pipe. It's a small town -- almost impossible to get lost here.

I think Dave at Bananarama will make you anything you want, Pizza just tell him and if he has it it will be put on the Pizza.

Another good little spot is just a couple of doors up from Bigotes, friends had their Pizza and they all thought it was pretty good.

Does Palapa Joe's have the coconut shrimp that used to be served there?

It only took me a few months to get there but I made it last night. It seemed that the times I was in La Mazanilla it was Monday and they were closed.

The only problems I had were:

First - Kimberly was not there so I did not get to meet her. The waitress said she knew two Kimberly's but since neither one was there I did not try to explain.

Second - There was not enough tomato paste on the pizza. I now know to order double tomato the next time.

The service and the pizza was good and will return.

cya,

Hi Shoe,

Kimberly here (in sunny California that is)...sorry I wasn't there to meet you. We will be returning to La Manzanilla in October to gear up for the season.

Thanks for the input and please feel free to ask for extra sauce...we aim to please! Also we will be adding a few more items to our menu so do come and visit us again.

Cheers...

Just meant "Shoe" face-toface....

That was nice! Cyber connections meet the real world. It was confusing at first...

I just need to figure out a more elegant way to introduce myself to all my cyper connections.

It's nice to put a face to a cyper identity.

I just hope that Shoe got enough tomotoe sauce on his pizza! It was pretty funny in the kitchen...we were all concern about putting to much sauce on the pizza and having the pizza becoming this huge mushy wade of mush.

But I think we figured out a happy solution!

Cheers,

Kimberly

Yes, it was nice to meet Kimberly last night. She did make sure there was tomato sauce on my pizza. I asked for 4X normal as double had not gotten it before. This was my third visit there and it was a charm.

I got good pizza with lots of pepperoni, cheese and tomato sauce on it and they even brought a bowl to the table of extra sauce in case I wanted more. I liked it this time.

Now, Mama Leone's in NYC on 2nd ave. puts so much stuff on a slice of pizza that it is falling off as you try to eat it. The grease is dripping and so is other stuff and probably the dripping grease is the key to great pizza.

Now that is really good pizza but Joe's pizza ranks up there with Emily's in Melaque. So now I have two places to get good pizza. An advantage that Palapa Joe's has is they serve beer and the place in Melaque does not. Kinda need beer with my pizza.

Thanks for the help Kimberly and it was a pleasure meeting you!

cya,
shoe

I do not see any Tuesday special on the site. I thought the site used to be bigger and had pictures and stuff.
