Good morning Scott ...

I've been watching the stories about G.W. Bush chasing around Latin American ... only to find another place in the world where he is truly hated. He has been burned in effigy in every country.

This article is pretty interesting: http://www.topix.net/content/ap/1275887 ... RBM8DJCRC6.

I see the pesos is at 11.1 to the usd ... and that Calderon is continuing to promise to eliminated poverty in Mexico.

All this coupled with a supposedly new 700 mile new fence at the Mexcian/US border ... any rumblings in your area?

The only rumbling is the volcano and the large waves lately. I don't hear much of anything here about politics altho somebody must be interested. I'll try to watch the TV news a little more.

>>>>>> burned in effigy in every country

Just more of that Latin celebration maybe?

Old Ron Reagan was hated around the world far more than Bush ( and I am not sayng Bush is Reagan) But every American president that ever did anything is hated. And as a comparision Look at Clinton or the peanut head Carter they are loved because they did nothing about nothing.
And as for Calderon saying he wants to help the Mexican people, It's true but he only wants to help a few Mexican people.
Polititions are all alike, they just want to help themselves and there friends.

Like so many places ... folks don't seem to pay much attention until the bandini hits the fan ... when a problem drops on "your" doorstep then and only then do folks get interested ...

It is always fascinating to read presidential comparisons ... everyone remembers just a bit differently.

imho ... if Calderon plays his cards correctly ... he could get GWB to throw in some serious large bucks to help Mexico's economy.

Returned from 9 day stay in Melaque last week – I rarely watch TV anywhere – we had one in our room so my wife would sometimes turn it on ; the only English language news was 22 hour per day coverage of who controlled Anna Nichole Smiths body. They did have other bits of news, Brittney Spears in rehab, Paris Hilton’s reaction to Anna Smiths burial custody hearing.
CNN news is pretty much the prime English language news source for 90% of the worlds people, seen through the CNN lens the US looks like the strangest place on the planet.

I am not USA bashing ... but ...

scooterbum's statement says tons ... " seen through the CNN lens the US looks like the strangest place on the planet. ".

It is more and more difficult to understand what the world sees in all that goes on in the US ... but it is obvious that MANY other places just don't give a damn about the "Ancient Behemoth".
