It took over a week to get a reply and luckily I found this in my JUNK mail

I wrote back about not finding the form DS-84 .... and they said it was a type-o and should be DS-82 which I did find.

Just wanted to relate my experience.

Everything went smoothly except for the photos...I had the wrong size.

The size of the photographs that are required for US passports seem to
be different from the Mexican passport.

Just make sure they are the 2"x2" and have the correct facial size.

May I suggest bringing the application (you can print the form from the passport website) to the photo place so they understand what size you need.

Otherwise it was a very easy.

Cheers!

Well I did it but totally spaced out about Nuevo Vallarta. It's in Nayarit, past the airport .... but I must have taken every left turn past old town.

After you cross into Nayarit (the bridge - one of many) take the second right (says Nuevo Vallarta) and the signs are good after that. The Consulate is in the Paradise Plaza shopping center, upstairs on the south end.

I left a little after 7am because I can't drive in the dark ... and signed in at the desk at 11:45. They close at 12:30 but will finish up with anyone signed in on time. There is a little book store in the plaza that takes pictures for about $15us which I did rather than getting them wrong here.

I didn't make a joke when he gave me my little very cheaply made (in China) American flag pin ... for fear they monitor attitudes. (I really doubt it but who knows)
