Well, we´ve been here a week now and there are a few places we haven´t seen mentioned in the obvious places that we feel are definitely worth trying again! Of course, one should bear in mind that almost all the restaurants right now are suffering staff shortages so have patience, enjoy the simple things and you´ll have a great meal.

Cesar Y Charlie´s: through the alley across from the Primera Plus bus station. Their chicken fajitas are sublime. Best we´ve had anywhere so far in our trip.

Tacos Pedros: not to be confused with Pedro´s Grill. At the corner of Benito Juarez & Guzman just one block off the Plaza. We tried the chicken, beef and pork tacos and can swear that the pork is the best, followed closely by the chicken. Found the beef to have that peculiar tang we´ve come to associate with bad things...

The best breakfast we´ve had so far has got to be at El Patio, this tiny hole in the wall beside Señor Froy´s on V. Gomez Farias. Their hotcakes taste just like home. Sigh... All our breakfasts have tasted good but a few have given us indigestion and others were not as good a value.

Now for desserts!!! On Adolphe Lopez Mateos, in front of the alley way that leads to Miguel Hidalgo, is a small woman who sets up at around 6 pm or so. Her chocolate flan is to die for, and she always has a supply of 8 to 10 different cakes. For 30p you get a huge slice of heaven you simply cannot finish in one go. (We´ve tried several times now to do it, and we now take it home and pop it in our fridge.)

The best advice we can give you is follow your nose... and look at where the locals eat. Sure some restaurants are crowded with lots of happy looking gringos, but we can eat happy gringo food anywhere. The regional specialities here (like the unique way most restaurants have of giving the simple fajita their own flair) are delicious and inexpensive.

Enjoy!

El Patio ... the old Roosters and before that .. the old Banarama

Yes I like their breakfasts - or at least used to. I eat out so little here now that I forget what's out there. It was nice to take a four day trip to Colima last week just so we could eat out for a change

So down here, that is a good thing? I was thinking, thank god I took the Dukoral!

And I am wrong, El Patio is actually a block past Señor Froy´s towards Club Dorado.

Cheers!

RE: El Patio

Thats about right. I used to stay at the Las Brisas and it was across the street. Actually they have that 'patio' in the back with 8-10 tables so it's not so small
