Altho there is no formal recycling program in the area there are informal ones. Families and schools collect them and if all else fails the people that work the municiple dump may find them.

I run into a lot of gringos that just throw them in their mixed garbage. With a little effort you might find a neighbor or school that wants them ... or at least put them in a separate bag.

Today there is a group of Secondary kids spending a full day in Colima and Comala and it's paid for with aluminum cans they collected.

For those that spend the winter here or longer ... lets not act like tourists
