The latest strange food someone in the family brought home. All the Internet fotos I find look to be shorter than these but maybe because they weren't sitting on the kitchen counter.

They've also brought home turtle that I wouldn't eat, octopus ... no iguana yet

What strange foods have you run across in Mexico

They are indeed long neck or maybe goose-neck barnacles. THey know them locally as persive. I have tried them up at Perula in a ceviche.

I have tried Armadillo roasted in a spricy green sauce. Very tasty, like pork a bit. And have been offered Coati, that one I turned down.

Sparks, why not eat the turtle. Turtle steaks and turtle soup are great. They serve them normally in the Florida keys all the time.

Octopus is also great and I have had it around here many times. They do not deep fry it and I like it hat way but in salads, on testadas, and many other ways I have found it here. It is good.

I have gotten some strange looking fish at the coop that I do not know what they were and I would have thrown them back but I find that they are good tasting. Dog fish was the worse I have tried here.

I do not find that they eat strange foods here at all.

In Kentucky a restaurant served squirrel brains to me once and they were not that bad. I tried them later in eggs along with pig brain and that was very good.

cya,
shoe

Shoe, I have also had turtle in the Keys. Something I always have when I am in the Keys are Conk. The big snail they pick up off the bottom of the sea. I have eaten conk burger, and conk puppys.

I don't know where the turtle came from .... maybe an accidental catch in a net. Just didn't want to give my approval to harvesting a protected species
