According to Susan Dearing, from her website Manzanillo Travel Guide (a.k.a Go Manzanillo since her url begins w/go manzanillo), in the article "Manzaniilo's First Casino", she said in her very own words:

Quote: "A second casino is being built on the other side of Blvd. Miguel de la Madrid, next to the KFC. On the same street, to be completed this year, will be a Sam's Club, and an Office Depot. Another major retailer (rumored to be Home Depot) is scheduled for that area, on Av. de las Garzas, which is the street with KFC and the new hospital."

What are your opinions? I know that everybody has mixed views when it comes to the arrivals of american chains in manzanillo, but i think almost everybody here would want a home depot being built. let's hope that happens.

The "casino" going into the KFC complex is called Caliente. At least it was shown in the original Brizza drawings. Caliente is a Mexican sports book chain. I have been in one in Ensenada and don't remember seeing any activities that I would associate with a "casino".

Regarding the other chains, the mexican people will decide if it is good or not via their spending. I am a guest here, I don't have an opinion other than keep it all in Salagua!

Home Depot would be cool but could care less about the others. I can see them keeping these gringo attractions close to the hotels on the peninsula .... but that area is getting auwfully crowded - and bad for traffic some day

Like I said in another post (on another site), there SHOULD be TRAFFIC LIGHTS available at that Wal-Mart street AT ALL COST!

When the Brizza plaza is finally finished, guest what that'll do to the traffic... The traffic there is very bad and isn't far behind compared to the bigger city traffic.

Doesn't the secretary of tourism or the Gov see the daily bad traffic as a bad sign for locals & tourists alike?

I was informed by the owners at Monkeys that a Chili's is going in with the DQ and OfficeMax. Something about Starbucks and all those other companies being part of the same investor group who are marketing in Mexico.

Recently met the owners of Plaza Brizza - a couple of brothers from Leon. Young guys in their early 30's. They tell me that the vacant space next to Star Bucks is being considered by a bank. I cannot remember the name of the bank but it is a regional player based out of Leon I believe. It is a business bank that only accepts business accounts. The space next to the Office Depot and Dairy Queen is being considered by the owners of the Viva Vino store. I believe they told me the space right next to the Office Depot will be the Viva Vino wine bar with tables outside like the Star Bucks and the other space with be for the Viva Vino store.
